Education

The West Virginia Developmental Disabilities Council and West Virginia Advocates, Inc have developed a Parent’s Advocacy Guide to Special Education.

Support Organizations

  • Parent Network Specialists
    Parent Network Specialists are themselves parents of children with special health care needs and have had to navigate the medical and educational systems. They work in partnership with WV Children with Special Healthcare Needs (CSHCN) local teams throughout the state in assisting families.
  • WV Parent Training and Information
    empowers parents of children with disabilities in their roles as parents, decision makers, and advocates for their children.
  • WV Office of Special Education
    Office within the WV Department of Education responsible for educational supports for children and youth with learning difficulties.
  • Pathways to the Future
    is a collection of resources, tools and people to help students with disabilities, through the journey from youth to adulthood.
  • Understood for Learning & Attention Issues
    Education and resources for parents and children who are struggling with learning and attention issues.
